Stay Well
Exam, check-up, office visit, and physical are all terms used commonly in the medical field but the importance of the visit is rarely described.
The relationship between a veterinarian and patient is the fundamental component of the art of medicine. This bond is started in the exam room by performing a full health assessment.
Dr. Kinsey believes health assessments are the key to preventative medicine and keeping dogs and cats healthy.
Health Assessment
-
Pet History
We wish animals could talk. Until that day comes, our team needs your input on your pet’s day to day life. We start our health assessment by discussing your pet’s habits, life-style, nutrition, and previous medical history. We want to hear about any questions or concerns you have.
Sending us medical records before a visit, knowing medications and dosing, and writing down any questions you have can help streamline the visit.
-
Examination
A physical examination performed by our veterinarian helps determine and maintain the health of your dog and cat. The frequency of an examination is based on age, breed, life-style, and previous medical conditions.
We check:
Vitals
Weight and Body Condition
Eyes
Ears
Skin
Teeth
Abdomen
Heart Sounds
Lung Sounds
Mobility
Mentation

Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship Establishment
Veterinarians have government laws and regulations to be in good license standing. In order to provide medical care, diagnose, and prescribe medications, veterinarians must have an active Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) with your pet. The only way to establish or maintain a VCPR is to have an in-person examination per pet at least once every 365 days.
Our Health Assessment follows Georgia’s Veterinary Practice Act. Yep, we are a law abiding practice.

Health Plan
After learning more about your pet, our team is able to discuss your questions and concerns. We are able to formulate a health plan and make recommendations to keep your pet healthy based on individual needs.
