Skin, Cytology, and Eye Testing
Pets can develop a variety of skin, ear, and eye conditions that require careful evaluation to diagnose and treat effectively. At Neighborhood Vet, we perform in-clinic testing to identify the cause of itching, irritation, infections, or other concerns in your dog or cat.
Skin and cytology tests allow us to examine samples from skin and ears to detect bacteria, yeast, parasites, or cell types. These tests provide clear answers and help us create precise treatment plans for your pet.
Eye exams are performed to assess overall eye health and detect conditions such as infections, corneal issues, or vision concerns. Early detection through testing can prevent more serious complications and ensure your pet remains comfortable and healthy.
By combining these in-clinic tests with our broader diagnostic capabilities, we can provide fast, reliable results and guide you through effective treatments or referrals when necessary.

Fecal Tests
“But I don’t see worms in the poop” is common when discussing the risk of intestinal parasites. Worms actually love to stay inside the intestinal tract where there is food, warmth, and safety. Some parasites can be seen in the stool once the infection is severe. Others can not be seen with the naked eye.
Fecal tests detect the eggs of worms and also other contagious organisms. We also offer advanced testing to detect the presence of parasites before eggs are shed. We recommend at least twice a year testing since parasites are everywhere and can infect people too. All it takes is a small fresh stool sample and our lab tests do the rest.
Common intestinal parasites:
Hookworms
Roundworms
Tapeworms
Whipworms
Coccidia
Giardia
